Ein defektes Radlager macht sich meist durch ein ungewöhnliches Geräusch bemerkbar, wenn du geradeaus fährst – ein Geräusch, das nachlässt oder sich verändert, wenn du eine Kurve fährst. Wenn du dieses Symptom bei deinem Volvo bemerkst, kannst du fast sicher sein, dass es sich um ein defektes Radlager handelt. Eine weitere Möglichkeit, herauszufinden, ob das Radlager gewechselt werden muss, ist, das Auto anzuheben und zu prüfen, ob Spiel vorhanden ist. Greife das Rad ganz oben und ganz unten und prüfe, ob sich das Rad vertikal seitlich bewegen lässt.
Volvo S80 und V70 2WD haben hinten Radlager vom Typ Einheitslager, Hub Unit. Das bedeutet, dass das Radlager als komplette Einheit mit dichtungen geliefert wird. Hub Unit Radlager sind ab Werk gefettet und lassen sich sehr einfach selbst wechseln, da weder eine Presse noch zusätzliches Radlagerfett benötigt werden.
