Die Aufgabe des Luftmengensensors im Volvo ist genau wie sein Name, die Menge der Luft zu berechnen, die der Motor ansaugt. Im Luftmengensensor befinden sich dünne Metallfäden, die elektronisch erhitzt werden und je nach der Menge der durch das Ansaugrohr strömenden Luft unterschiedlich abgekühlt werden. Ihr Volvo misst, wie viel Strom benötigt wird, um die Fäden warm zu halten. Auf diese Weise kann das Steuersystem des Autos berechnen, wie viel Luft durchströmt und die Kraftstoffmenge entsprechend anpassen.
