Simons Sport exhaust system of TOP quality is mainly made from chromium-steel (AISI 409 / EN 1.4512). Techincally this is a ferritic rust-free steel. The steel is alloyed with 10-12% chrome. In order to guarantee optimal weldability the carbon-content has been brought down to a minimum, and titanium has been added. The result is a tough, weldable material, with a good protection against rust.
In time, chromium-steel will get brownish-red, corroded, areas in places that have become hot. This is normal, and unlike normal black steel, the corrosion of chromium-steel is a very slow process, giving it a long lifespan.
