A common sign that a caliper needs to be replaced is if the car pulls to one side when braking or wears more brake pads on one of the wheels.
If the piston in the caliper does not move as it should, it can impair braking performance, causing your Volvo to pull to one side when braking. If the piston in the caliper gets stuck in the outer active position instead of sliding back after braking, it causes extra wear on the brake pads and sometimes also results in warped brake discs.
A tip is to also replace the brake hose when changing the caliper. The correct brake hose for your Volvo S60, V60, S80, V70 or XC70 is available as an accessory item for the caliper.
