Een veelvoorkomend teken dat een Remklauw vervangen moet worden, is als de auto scheef trekt bij het remmen of meer Remblokken slijt op een van de wielen.
Als de zuiger in de Remklauw niet soepel beweegt, kan dit de remkracht verminderen, waardoor je Volvo scheef trekt bij het remmen. Als de zuiger in de Remklauw vastzit in de uitgeschoven positie in plaats van terug te glijden na het remmen, veroorzaakt dit extra slijtage van de Remblokken en soms ook kromme Remschijven als gevolg.
