Een veelvoorkomend teken dat een remklauw aan vervanging toe is, is als de auto schuin trekt bij het remmen of één van de remblokken meer rem-residu achterlaat op de banden.
Als de zuiger in de remklauw niet goed loopt, kan dit de remwerking nadelig beïnvloeden, waardoor je Volvo schuintrekt bij het remmen. Als de zuiger in de remklauw vastzit in de buitenste actieve stand (in plaats van terug te glijden na het remmen), zorgt dit voor extra slijtage aan de remblokken, soms zelfs met scheve remschijven als gevolg.
Een tip is om bij het vervangen van de remklauw ook de remslang te vervangen. De juiste remslang voor je Volvo 140, 240, 740, 940, 850, S70, V70, C70, C30, S40, S60, S80, V40, V60, V90, XC60, XC70, XC90 is verkrijgbaar als extra accessoire voor de remklauw.
