Zoals de naam al aangeeft, heeft de luchtmassameter in de Volvo de taak om de hoeveelheid lucht die de motor opneemt te berekenen. De luchtmassameter bevat dunne metalen draden die elektronisch worden verwarmd en gekoeld, afhankelijk van de hoeveelheid lucht die door de inlaat stroomt. Je Volvo meet de hoeveelheid stroom die nodig is om de draden warm te houden, waardoor het regelsysteem van de auto de hoeveelheid doorgelaten lucht kan berekenen en de brandstofhoeveelheid dienovereenkomstig kan aanpassen. Om deze luchtmassameter te vervangen, heb je het volgende nodig:
