Het spiegelglas is van het asferische type. Dit betekent dat het spiegelglas een verschillende mate van vergroting heeft over het spiegeloppervlak. Het middelste gedeelte van het spiegelglas heeft een iets sterkere vergroting om de achterliggende auto's duidelijk te laten zien, terwijl de periferie een zwakkere vergroting heeft om een groter gebied achter je Volvo te tonen.
