Alle plastdele bliver meget skrøbelige over årene, og slangerne kan blive tilstoppede af gamle oljerester og snavs. Tilstopning af slanger resulterer i et højere tryk, hvilket over tid kan forårsage olieudslip. Hvis man ikke gør noget ved problemet, er det kun et spørgsmål om tid, før krumtaphusventilationen går i stykker, hvilket i ekstreme tilfælde kan føre til motorhavari.
